Voices inside me

images flashing like lightning

I can not foretell

how the war will end

bullets fly past my head

is this still the war

or am I alive and home by now

this I can not tell

Oh! This pain is beyond belief

I'd kill to have it end

and when I'm through with this

I swear I'll be in my grave

Is this the war or am I

still alive, still living, sitting at home

this pain can not be controlled

what to do I don't know

just make it stop

I can not tell if I'm alive or in the war

am I shot am I dead am I alive is this the war

all I asked was for an answer

that answer was not

given to me instead I got

a visit from Death
